Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data First Renters Guide collects, why, and your rights over it. First Renters Guide is run by Pengroove, which is the data controller. Contact us at hello@pengroove.com or using the details on our contact page.
What we collect
- Orders: your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), what you bought, the amount, currency and country edition, and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never reach us.
- Newsletter: your email address, if you subscribe.
- Enquiries and forms: whatever you choose to send us.
- Downloads: when a purchased file is downloaded, and the country the request came from, to protect paid files from misuse.
- Analytics (only with your consent): pages visited, how you arrived (for example a link or advert), and a random visitor ID stored in your browser. We don't use it to identify you.
- Preferences on your device: your chosen country, your cart and your cookie choice, stored in your browser so the site works.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To sell and deliver your products and send receipts: performance of our contract with you.
- To keep records for tax and accounting: legal obligation.
- To answer enquiries: our legitimate interest in responding to you.
- To send the newsletter: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link.
- Analytics and advertising measurement: your consent, given through the cookie banner.
- To prevent fraud and misuse of paid downloads: our legitimate interest.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We use these service providers, who process it on our instructions:
- Vercel (website hosting and file storage)
- Neon (database)
- Bachs (payments)
- Our email provider (Resend or Loops), for receipts and the newsletter
- Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when pages load fonts
- Advertising and analytics platforms (Google, Meta, TikTok, Snap, Pinterest) only if we have turned them on and you have accepted analytics cookies
Some of these providers are outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States and Nigeria. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses (including the UK addendum) to protect it.
How long we keep it
- Order records: 7 years, for tax and accounting.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Enquiries: up to 2 years after we last hear from you.
- Analytics: up to 26 months.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Email hello@pengroove.com and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) in the UK, or to the data protection authority where you live in the EU. Please contact us first so we can try to help.
Cookies

Children
The site is for adults renting a home. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
